Love's Recipe: Blending Intimacy, Ambiance, and Flavor for a Memorable Valentine's Day

Make this Valentine’s Day more spectacular than any other. Learn the art of curating the perfect setting, crafting an ambiance with timeless elegance, creating specialty cocktails, and cooking a memorable meal from our expert event planners. We will move beyond clichés, and embody the essence of love, warmth, and romance.

Setting the Scene

Firstly, choosing the right spot is of prime importance. Opt for a location that resonates with your intimacy. If you both prefer a more private setting, consider the coziness of your own home. Create a romantic ambiance, paired with an impressive home-cooked meal.

If you’re more drawn to indulging in high-end cuisine, consider making a reservation at one of your city’s finest restaurants. Choose a restaurant with a beautiful city view; you will find yourself in the clouds, both literally and figuratively. We recommend Peak with Priceless at Hudson Yards for unparalleled views of the skyline.

Crafting a Romantic Ambiance

Valentine’s Day wouldn’t be complete without the timeless gesture of flowers. Classics are classics for a reason, however, there are countless choices just as romantic as red roses. Why not opt for a bouquet that resonates with your partner’s unique taste? Choosing blooms that carry their favorite scent or ones that remind you of shared special memories always goes down well. Our event experts at Events by RHC suggest this approach to infuse a touch of individuality into your celebration.

If your date is set at a restaurant, consider adding an extra layer of surprise by calling ahead and arranging for the flowers to be waiting on your table. For those embracing the intimacy of home, go beyond the bouquet. Elevate more private settings with thoughtful touches such as draping fairy lights, scattering handwritten love notes, or playing a curated playlist that encapsulates the essence of your relationship.

Cook to Impress

For those embarking on a culinary adventure this Valentine’s Day, we asked our Chef de Cuisine, Paul Marrocco for some valuable tips.

“For a truly memorable Valentine’s Day, incorporate vibrant colors, contrasting textures, and aromatic flavors to evoke a multisensory experience. It’s the little details that make a meal special, so pay attention to presentation – a beautifully plated dish makes the difference in turning a simple meal into an extraordinary experience. And don’t forget dessert! A sweet conclusion to your culinary adventure adds the perfect touch of indulgence to this day of love.”

“According to my fiancee, the moment she fell in love with me was when I invited her to help make some pasta. One afternoon, we crafted gnudi together—an Italian dumpling similar to gnocchi but made with ricotta cheese instead of cooked potato. I served it up with a slow-cooked bolognese, topped with grated parmigiano reggiano. For a delightful dessert, chocolate fondue is an excellent choice. Consider pairing it with marshmallows, large strawberries, and enhance the ambiance by selecting a romantic comedy to watch.”

Shake Things Up

Impress your loved one with a specialty drink, served either before heading to a restaurant or during dinner at home. Step away from the typical Champagne choice and explore flavors that resonate with your shared experiences. Whether it’s infusing a tropical twist, playing with herbal notes, or experimenting with unexpected pairings, let your creativity flow as you craft your own signature cocktail.

If you’re seeking set recipes, our Valentine’s Day cocktail recommendation is the Bee’s Knees; a signature creation by our beverage team, featured on our events menu:

  • Tanqueray Gin (1.5 oz)
  • Lemon juice (1 oz)
  • Pomegranate beet juice (1 oz)
  • Honey syrup (1 oz)

Blend the gin, lemon juice, pomegranate beet juice and honey syrup and pour over ice. Garnish it with a piece of honeycomb or mini white floret.

Not only does it look as delightful as it tastes, but its deep red hue also complements the essence of this holiday. For a non-alcoholic alternative, replace the gin with Seedlip Grove 42, providing an equally chic mocktail option.

From picking the perfect spot to ensuring you’re prepared to cook up a tasty home-cooked meal. A consistent theme echoes throughout – infuse your celebration with personal touches and elevate your plans beyond the traditional.
